Cardinals release LaRon Byrd, Dan Giordano
It’s a sad day for Cardinals fans across the world. The player affectionately called ‘Mini Fitz’ due to his striking resemblance to the big man Larry Fitzgerald, has been released. LaRon Byrd is no longer a member of the Cardinals.

Byrd sprang to fame in 2012 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of the University of Miami. Fans took an immediate liking to him due to his dreadlocked appearance and his ability to catch the erratic passes of quarterback Ryan Lindley during the preseason. ‘Mini Fitz’ was born.
After spending 2013 on injured reserve with a concussion (which may or may not have anything to do with him cutting his dreadlocks off), Byrd was released. Other than his moments of glory in the preseason of 2012, very little stands out about Byrd. He wasn’t a good route runner and at one point during the 2013 off-season, he was behind pretty much every wide receiver on the roster including undrafted rookie free agents.
The Cardinals also cut ties with linebacker Dan Giordano, another player who missed all of 2013 through injury. Giordano played college football at the University of Cincinnati and was an undrefted free agent in 2013.
Neither cut is really surprising but we’ll miss you Mini Fitz.
