Catanzaro shines in preseason debut
Twenty-three year old Chandler Catanzaro, a rookie out of Clemson University, had a spectacular performance in his debut with the Cardinals on Saturday evening. He was given the start over veteran kicker Jay Feely, in order to get some early work done in the preseason. Catanzaro stole the spotlight on special teams, as he went three for three on field goal and extra point attempts. He posted 12 of the 32 points scored en route to a blowout victory over the Texans.
His longest kick was from 32 yards out, on a field goal attempt that came late in the 1st quarter. It was quite an impressive showing for the young gun, who experienced his first NFL action against Houston. Catanzaro and Feely are competing for the starting kicker position on the Cardinals roster. Head Coach Bruce Arians will be evaluating the two as they rotate during the preseason. Feely will get the start next week when the Cardinals travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings in their 2nd preseason game of the season.
