Tyrann Mathieu expected to come off PUP list
Tyrann Mathieu was the gem of last year’s draft class. Taken in the third round, the former rookie out of LSU spent his first season with the Cardinals making an immediate impact in the backfield. He constantly made plays all over the field. He lit up opposing offenses, challenged receivers and provided a nice complement for team-mate Patrick Peterson. Mathieu surpassed many critic’s expectations, proving to be a valuable asset to an already loaded Arizona secondary. Unfortunately, on December 8, Mathieu tore both his ACL and LCL in a home victory over the St. Louis Rams. He was carted off the field and immediately placed on injured reserve. Matthieu spent the rest of last season and the entire off-season nursing his injury back to health.
Based on his recovery progress, Matthieu was estimated to be ready to return to action by week three against the 49ers. But it appears as though he could be suiting up for practice much sooner then expected. According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Mathieu is expected to come off the PUP list by tomorrow.
Cardinals DB Tyrann Mathieu, who tore ACL and LCL last Dec, will come off PUP Tuesday; now some optimism he will play in Arizona’s opener.

Its very exciting news for the 2nd year standout, as Tyrann Mathieu has been eagerly awaiting to return to the practice field and join his team-mates for the start of the 2014 NFL season.
