Though Bronson Arroyo has always been a pitcher that you could chalk up for 200+ innings every year, it looks like he’ll have to overcome a minor setback if he wants to do it again in 2014.

The 37-year-old was scratched from his Spring Training start on Tuesday due to back soreness, but it was said that sidelining him was just a precaution. Well, turns out that it may have been more than just a precaution, because an MRI revealed that Arroyo had an inflamed disc in his back. The injury is similar to one he had while playing for Cincinnati in 2011, but it never caused him to miss a start.

Arroyo is expected to miss 7 to 10 days, and although it’s unknown if Arroyo will make another Cactus League start, it looks like he’ll be ready for the beginning of the regular season for the Diamondbacks.
