Diamondbacks lose Patrick Corbin to injury on eve of Australia seris
Arizona Diamondbacks’ All Star pitcher Patrick Corbin will miss the trip to Australia for the opening series of the 2014 MLB season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The left-handed pitcher was set to be the starter for the opening game at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, but the Diamondbacks announced that an MRI scan found damage to his ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Corbin could miss the entire 2014 season after suffering the injury in the final pre-season warm up game against the Cleveland Indians. Losing Corbin would be a huge blow for the Arizona pitching rotation.
Wade Miley is to get the start on Saturday against NL West divisional rivals the Dodgers.
