Mark Trumbo returns to the Diamondbacks after missing 72 games with injury

According to John Gambodoro of Arizona Sports 98.7, Mark Trumbo will return to the Diamondbacks tonight after missing 72 games due to a stress fracture in his foot.

After being the D-backs’ big offseason acquisition from the Los Angeles Angels, Trumbo hit .220 with 7 homers and 19 RBIs through 21 games. Trumbo was leading the league in home runs at the time of his injury. The Diamondbacks will have to make a move to make room for Trumbo to come off of the DL. That move will likely be sending outfielder Roger Kieschnick back to Triple-A Reno.

Though this looks like a lost season in Arizona, it will be nice to have Mark Trumbo back in the lineup to hopefully do what he was acquired to do, and that is hit bombs and protect Paul Goldschmidt in the lineup.
