Kevin Love’s time in Minnesota is running out as he has made it clear that he will not re-sign as long as he is a member of the lowly Timberwolves. The Wolves have failed to make the playoffs in each of Love’s first three seasons displaying just how unsuccessful the franchise has been trying to rebuild in that time. The frustration has been mounting for Love who realizes  how truly talented he is and just how many teams are attracted to him. Though the Wolves have the upper hand as they look to gain proportionate compensation for the 25 year old standout. The Phoenix Suns are a perfect match for Love considering their coaching staff, youth, style of play, and overall potential coming off of a season in which they missed the playoffs in the final two games of the season in a stout Western Conference.

Though reports claim that Love is most intrigued by the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls, the Timberwolves will ultimately decide his destination based upon how much they get in return. Yet, with the Warriors hiring Steve Kerr as their new head coach they may be headed in a new direction. That is where the Phoenix Suns come in as they own four first round draft picks in this years draft as well as a roster with some tradable assets. Love would provide Phoenix with something they have lacked since the days of Amar’e Stoudemire, a game changing inside presence. The combination of Kevin Love, Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, and Miles Plumlee would surely be a deadly combination that would lead the Suns to a playoff appearance.

The Lakers should be active in attempting to acquire Love. Yet, the L.A. Lakers already have enough to sort out with a ton of attention on a heeling Kobe Bryant, a search for a new head coach, and more than a few expiring contracts already on their roster. That makes Jeff Hornacek’s Suns a much more attractive option to discuss a trade with not just for Kevin Love but also for the Timberwolves. With that said the Phoenix Suns would be foolish not to attempt to acquire Kevin Love as his attitude, style of play, and overall ability makes him a perfect fit for Phoenix.
