Darren McFadden had 13 receptions

There wasn’t many bright spots in the Oakland Raiders loss to the San Diego Chargers Monday night. However, Carson Palmer was the catalyst in helping Darren McFadden break the Oakland Raiders record for most receptions in a game by a running back. Palmer was master of the check-down pass, as he obviously was not comfortable in throwing the ball down field to the depleted Raider wide receiving corps.

With receivers Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford injured, Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer relied heavily on screen passes to running back Darren McFadden. He had 13 catches for 86 yards. It was a career high and a Raiders’ record for a running back. McFadden, who missed the final nine games of last season, struggled on the ground, though. He had just 32 yards on 15 carries.
