Randy Moss not happy Vikings gave his number to a rookie
You can certainly make a very valid argument that Randy Moss is the greatest Minnesota Viking of all-time. If nothing else, he is in the discussion. There is a certain amount of respect that comes with being a marquee member of a franchise, one of the most popular forms being having your number retired by the team. In the case of the Vikings, not only do they still have Moss’ number available, they have given it to a rookie, Cordelle Patterson.
Moss’ thoughts on the matter? Well, he’s pretty upset about it.
Here is what he said during the FOX pregame show, where Moss now works:
“First of all, that’s disrespectful, to give a rookie my number,” Moss said. “I don’t really believe in numbers, but I think that from a professional standpoint, I did make that number. And for them to give him that number, he hasn’t proven anything yet. But, hey, what can I say, I’m just Randy Moss sitting here in the studio.”
While I see Moss’ point, it does seem a bit petty, especially if he doesn’t “believe in numbers.” Who knows, maybe it was simply a tactic to motivate the rookie for his former team or simply a joke.
Tell us: Do you think Moss’ number should be retired by the Vikings?
