Ray Rice made his first public appearance at his hometown of New Rochelle, New York since being cut by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL. Rice was accompanied by his wife and child while watching his former high school football team play. Rice seemed to have the full support of his former high school and hometown.

Ray Rice’s former NRHS Football coach Louis DeRienzo, made some bold statements over the last few days in addition to giving his full support to Rice. After the threat of Rice’s #5 high school jersey being taken down from the wall of the school’s gymnasium, DeRienzo said he would resign if the City School District removed the jersey. While the jersey wasn’t taken down, Reggie Richardson, the high school principal, removed Rice’s jerseys, images and his Wall of Fame plaque from the school.

The Rice plaque, images and jerseys may be placed back to its original location as the removal is apparently not permanent. It should be noted that the New Rochelle students also support Rice in addition to DeRienzo.
In a statement which appeared in USA TODAY, Young said the removal of the #27 Ravens jersey was not permanent.
