WATCH: Albert Pujols pranks Bartolo Colon on mound after flying out

  • David Whitlock

What happened to pitcher vs. batter protocol? That went out the window on Sunday as Albert Pujols untucked Bartolo Colon’s jersey after flying out to deep center field.  Watch, as the Fellow Dominican Republic native Pujols tugs at the unsuspecting Colon’s uniform top (via

On a somewhat serious baseball note, I have a few questions:

1) What happened to Albert Pujols power?  Two years ago, a high flat one like that would be 450 feet or more. Warning track power?
2) Is this a little too casual? You’re losing 6-0 and get (kinda) robbed on a ball at the wall and you’re fooling around like it’s the Cactus League?
3) Plus aren’t these division rivals? Would you see something like this in a Cards-Cubs, Giants-Dodgers, Yankees-Red Sox Game.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim seem to be a little too country club for me, and not enough Fight Club.

A lifelong Houston Astros fan (and mini-season ticket holder for 9 years) he attends 20+ games per year. A statistics freak, David still keeps score the "old fashioned way" on occasion (and has kept manual score of World Series games since 1986 and retains the sheets). He was a featured guest weekly on the Phil Naessens Show. He is also a Texas Longhorns alumnus and huge football and baseball fan of his alma mater. • David, me thinks thou takes “fun (out) at the ol’ ballgame” too much.

Rivals? Yes, when it’s close. But the A’s left the Angels in the dust a long time ago. Now it IS Cactus League.

As for Pujols, the juice… er, I mean power, is long gone as well.

  • This was a few weeks ago, but point taken. Still, I want to see Albert be more mad than jovial. For what they’re paying him!
