ALDS Preview: Kansas City Royals vs Houston Astros
Last year’s American League Champions, the Kansas City Royals, came out of the Wild Card game and came within one run of winning it all. This season the Astros play the roll of Cinderella and are hoping for their first trip to the ALCS ever. This year marks Houston’s first trip to the payoffs as an American League team. The Astros were a wild card team in their last trip to the playoffs in 2005. On that occasion they made it all the way to the World Series, falling to the Chicago White Sox in 4 games.
The stage is set. Both teams’ prior post season trip ended in a World Seriers loss. The Astros are reported to be “ahead of schedule” and the Royals weren’t supposed to have enough staying power to make it back to the big show. Each side has a chip on their shoulder, but only one of will matchup in the ALCS with the winner of the Toronto/Texas series. Who will it be? The Astros took the season series 4-2, but it’s the games in October that really matter.
