Tonight Alex Rodriguez hit his 300th home run in a New York Yankees uniform. This was a key home run in the game because it helped the Yankees stretched their 5-0 lead to 7-0. That eventually led to the Yankees 8-5 victory to reclaim first place in the American League East for the second time in three days.

With the Yankees scoring five runs in the eighth inning yesterday to tie the game (which they eventually lost), and then their offensive outburst tonight, New York seems to have found their bats again. With Alex Rodriguez being the guy adding some offensive production it also shows that the Yankees are getting better in the injury department. That, and Mark Teixeira might be available to play tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow CC Sabathia will take the hill in the third game of this four game series looking to assure that the Yankees will at least split the series, and be one game ahead of the Orioles in the division at the end of the series.
