WATCH: Endy Chavez robs home run, reminiscent of 2006 NLCS Game 7

  • David Whitlock

Seattle Mariners OF Endy Chavez is no stranger to home run robbing catches, but reminded us of his acumen Saturday Night against the Los Angeles Angels C Hank Conger.  As if he’s done it many times, Chavez measures the drive and times his jump perfectly to pull the ball back (via MLB.com)

Did we say he’s done it many times? St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets fans will remember his spectacular home run saving catch on Scott Rolen in Game 7 of the 2006 National League Championship Series when Chavez was a member of the Mets.  Watch the catch (via MLB.com) that he turned into a double play in a critical juncture of the pivotal game.

The moral of the story is, if you hit it Chavez’ way, you better get it a few rows deep or else take your chances!

David Whitlock - manager

David (a.k.a. Longhorndave or lhd_on_sports) joined the staff late in the 2012 season and moved to Site Manager in early 2013. A lifelong Houston Astros fan (and mini-season ticket holder for 9 years) he attends 20+ games per year. A statistics freak, David still keeps score the "old fashioned way" on occasion (and has kept manual score of World Series games since 1986 and retains the sheets). He was a featured guest weekly on the Phil Naessens Show. He is also a Texas Longhorns alumnus and huge football and baseball fan of his alma mater. When he isn't watching or writing about baseball, he works as a contractor at NASA Johnson Space Center. He lives by the mantra "a bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day anywhere else."
