Jayson Werth defended the young Nationals star, Bryce Harper to reporters

To say Bryce Harper is struggling would be one hell of an understatement. The sensational rookie has struggled this postseason batting 1-for-15. For those who struggle in the Math department, that is batting .067. Toss in some of Harper’s teammates inefficiencies at the plate and you have found a major reason they trail 2-1 in their series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Bryce answered some of these questions, with eventually coming to his defense.

“We get some runs on the board early, keep on the pedal, we’ll be OK,” he said of trying to turn around the series, which they trail 2-1.

And one more thing: “Our guys going out there and throwing some shutout innings, keeping their hitters off balance,” he said.

“It’s real easy to sit back and say he’s pressing or that it’s too big for him,” teammate Jayson Werth said. “If he goes (today) without getting any hits, I’ll bet on him for the next day. He’s my guy.”

One Response to Jayson Werth defends Bryce Harper, says he’s his guy

  • This is when Jeter’s greatness is more clearly defined. Jete was clutch even as a rookie…and he has not stopped since.

Nobody is better in post season. Nobody.
