Torii Hunter plays catch with Leukemia patient named after him

Torii Hunter is widely regarded as one of the “good guys” of professional baseball. Great teammate and great human being. The latter was on display today, as he played catch with a youngster named Hunter. Yes, he was named after Torii by his huge Minnesota Twins fans parents, and they drove their son to Detroit as part of the Make-a-Wish foundation. Minnesota Twins To Call Up OF Prospect

According to Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Minnesota Twins will be calling up Baseball America’s #41 overall prospect, Oswaldo Arcia, to fill a roster spot while Wilken Ramirez is on paternity leave.

Although this will only be a temporary roster move because he would essentially be the 4th corner outfielder when Ramirez gets back, it will give Twins fans a glimpse of the future. Arcia doesn’t play CF naturally and isn’t a top of the order hitter so he should be no competition to the scuffling Aaron Hicks (2 for 43 to begin the year).
