VIDEO: Rally Wookie leads Tampa Bay Rays to 18th inning victory

It’s not Halloween yet, but don’t tell that to the players and fans who were still hanging around Tropicana Field in the 18th inning to see their hometown Tampa Bay Rays battle the Baltimore Orioles in a key Wild Card game.  We’ve heard of Rally Monkey, Rally Squirrel, but have you heard of Rally Wookie?  Watch Rays OF/1B/DH Luke Scott loosen things up in the Rays dugout by donning a Star Wars Chewbacca mask (via MLB.com):

Joining him in the dugout was RHP Jamey Wright wearing some Gene Simmons (KISS) boots and a fully decked out gladiator took in the game from the stands!  And it all lead to a rally go give the hometown Rays the 6-5 win!  I imagine this mask may be making more appearances.  It was the Rays second walk off win at home this week over a Wild Card opponent, just at the right time of year!

David Whitlock - manager

David (a.k.a. Longhorndave or lhd_on_sports) joined the staff late in the 2012 season and moved to Site Manager in early 2013. A lifelong Houston Astros fan (and mini-season ticket holder for 9 years) he attends 20+ games per year. A statistics freak, David still keeps score the "old fashioned way" on occasion (and has kept manual score of World Series games since 1986 and retains the sheets). He was a featured guest weekly on the Phil Naessens Show. He is also a Texas Longhorns alumnus and huge football and baseball fan of his alma mater. When he isn't watching or writing about baseball, he works as a contractor at NASA Johnson Space Center. He lives by the mantra "a bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day anywhere else."
