Watch: Alex Rodriguez Gets #3000 By Going Yard
Tainted or not Yankee fans had no problem celebrating Alex Rodriguez’s 3000 hit. Rodriguez becomes the 29th player in Major League history to collect 3,000 hits and he did it by taking former Cy Young winner Justin Verlander yard in the first inning at Yankee Stadium in front of 45,000 fans. The adrenaline was flowing for Rodriguez as soon as he stood in the on-deck circle as fans started hootin and hollering. Rodriguez, who has had some success against Verlander, swung at the first pitch for his 13th home run of the year and another important reaching another milestone of 3000 hits. Alex joins Wade Boggs and former Yankee teammate Derek Jeter as the only members of the 3000 hit club to hit a home run.

3000 hits is definitely an accomplishment no matter how you got them. I know have his critics out there pleading their case that Rodriguez didn’t do it cleanly; but it seems that he is slowly being accepted back in baseball. Watching the reaction of the Yankee fans and teammates all year, you have to wonder is all forgiven. Heck, he even gave a curtain call!
