I don’t wish harm upon anyone, but Carl Crawford is injured, that means that it’s baseball season, which is a glorious thing.

The oft injured Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder missed today’s game with tightness in his leg. It’s not really that surprising to see him missing a game due to an injury; but it’s very surprising that the injury was not from this ridiculous slide attempt (Courtesy of MLB):

Çrawford attempted to steal second base in the third inning of yesterday’s Cactus League game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. As you can tell, he didn’t quite make it… Crawford smashed his chin quite hard on the Arizona clay before returning to first because of the foul ball on the steal attempt.

Crawford should get back into game action soon, and despite this display of sliding ineptitude, he won’t stop stealing. Crawford looks to get back to his 2009 and 2010 speed where he stole 60 and 47 bases respectively before missing significant time in 2011, 2012 and 2013.  The Dodgers certainly hope that he is able to recover quickly and come back with numbers close to those in his prime.  If I was paying somebody $20,000,000, I’d want them to perform too!
