WATCH: Jeter picked off in double steal

  • Tristan Tippet

In Derek Jeter 2014, here is one play that won’t be on the flashback reel. Jeter was on second base and Brett Gardner was on first base with one out. Both took off in an apparent attempt at a double steal. Red Sox’ catcher Christian Vazquez snuffed it out quick and Gardner was out by a long shot, but enticed a rundown to let Jeter score. But Jeter’s indecisiveness at third caught the eye of second baseman Jemile Weeks (MLB.com).

It was truly incredible teamwork by the Red Sox’ infielders, including first baseman Allen Craig who tagged Gardner out at second. Score that 2-6-3-4-5-3.
