WATCH: Rangers’ outfielders collide on fly ball
When the Texas Rangers are 42-65, losing can sometimes become an art. The Rangers’ outfielders Leonys Martin and Alex Rios made a funny play on this routine fly ball into right center off the bat of the New York Yankees’ Brett Gardner (mlb.com).
They didn’t do it on purpose obviously, but the surprise made it entertaining. This scored Brendan Ryan from second base, which was the seventh run of the sixth inning and the Yankees led 8-4.
The Yankees went on to win the game 12-11 to withstand two home runs and seven RBis from J.P. Arencibia.
Arencibia hit a grand slam off Dellin Betances in the seventh inning. Gardner, who led off the game with a home run, made the final out on Adrian Beltre, who was at the plate with the bases loaded and the Rangers trailing by one.
The Yankees are 4 1/2 games behind the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East, and two games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the wild card.
