Yankees place Mark Teixeira on Disabled List
It only took three games and one at bat before Mark Teixeira’s seemingly glass body gave out yet again. The Yankees 1B was placed on the DL on Saturday, according to a tweet from the Yankees official Twitter account:

Teix was off to a decent start with the 2-2 Yankees. It appears Kelly Johnson will move from 3B to 1B while Teixeira’s bum hammy heals. Teixeira missed all but 15 games in 2013 after injuring his wrist while preparing for the World Baseball Classic before the season. He tried to give it a go in May and June, but it wouldn’t work and he required surgery after the season.
The Yankees went on a spending spree this offseason (helped by some salary relief from the suspended Alex Rodriguez) and hope to contend and surpass their rivals, the World Champion Boston Red Sox.
