Red Sox extend invitation to Jason Collins on Twitter
By now I think we’ve all heard that Washington Wizards center and NBA veteran Jason Collins has come out and told the world he is homosexual. Collins has received mostly positive support aside from newly acquired Miami Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace. Wallace tweeted that he doesn’t understand homosexuality, and I am fine with that, let’s not be total cause whores and label Wallace homophobic. On a brighter note, the Boston Red Sox have extended an open invitation to Jason Collins, and anytime he wants to throw out a first pitch at a ball game at Fenway Park, he’s more than welcome:
We salute you, @jasoncollins34 for your courage and leadership. Any time you want to throw out a first pitch at Fenway Park, let us know.

This is an excellent gesture by the Red Sox to show support for Collins, as he spent time with the Boston Celtics at one point in his career. Let’s hope this is the first step to acceptance for gay players in sports without any unnecessary negative backlash.
