According to a report on NFL.com, the Detroit Lions organization believes that the career of running back Jahvid Best, a 2010 first round pick, may be over. Best has had a history of concussions, a trend that started in college at California and continued in the pros, as Best has suffered a concussion in each of his first two NFL seasons. His latest concussion came in Week 6 of the 2011 NFL season, a 25-19 Detroit loss to the San Francisco 49ers- an injury that forced Best to miss the final 11 games of the Lions’ campaign, including a playoff contest against the New Orleans Saints. While Best himself said that he’ll “definitely be back”, reports have surfaced from within the organization (again, according to NFL.com), that Best’s concussions, and resulting post-concussion symptoms, may keep him from ever taking the field again.
