Report: Michael Sam had four offers waiting if he wasn’t drafted
The St. Louis Rams pulled the trigger on former Missouri defensive end Michael Sam with the 249th pick of the 7th round of the NFL draft. Sam’s slide down draft boards was well documented as rounds progressed.
For those who live under a rock, Sam announced that he is gay several months prior to the draft.
However, had Sam gone undrafted, he wouldn’t have waited long to find work, according to a report from Pro Football Talk:
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Sam would have chosen between offers from four teams — the Rams, Bears, Giants and Ravens as an undrafted free agent.
It’s safe to assume Sam may have received interest from even more teams than those listed.
But, the Rams used a compensatory pick on Sam, and now that all the hoopla has passed, we’ll finally get see how the somewhat undersized defensive end performs on the field and assimilates into the NFL.
