The Seattle Seahawks are going to have to make a lot of decisions in the near future regarding all the young star players they have nearing the end of their rookie deals, including Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman. Last week, it was rumored that Sherman was close to a new contract, but it now appears safety Earl Thomas has beat him to the punch:

Per PFT:

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Seahawks have locked up star safety Earl Thomasto a long-term contract.

The deal is said to make him the highest paid safety in the game.

Thomas is the best safety in the game, and is now being paid like it. Terms of the deal are undisclosed as of now.

A deal with Sherman is still likely, depending on how much cap space the Seahawks want to commit to two players. However, Sherman is also at the top of the league at his position, so locking them both up will stabilize their secondary for years to come.
