Georges St. Pierre announces torn ACL; Will undergo surgery
UFC fighter Georges St. Pierre (25-2-0) was on the road to getting back into the sport after taking some time off for personal reasons after successfully defending his Welterweight title in a decision over Johny Hendricks, but that road to returning has a new detour, as St. Pierre announced via Twitter that he tore his left ACL and will undergo surgery to repair it.
Tore my left ACL in training. Surgery in a few days. Rehab, pain, hard work, no shortcuts- I’ll soon be back at 100%. Thanks for the support

While UFC President Dana White thinks St. Pierre will eventually return to the octagon, the injury puts things on hold indefinitely.
GSP tore his right ACL in 2011 and missed 18 months after the injury. While he wasn’t training for a fight, he would still have to rehab the knee and get in fighting shape. The 32-year-old has a long haul in front of him, and this injury only elongates his return to the sport.
