The situation between the Houston Rockets and first round draft pick Royce White has been a mess all season. White has been away from the team for most of the season and has yet to appear in a game. Recently, head coach Kevin McHale said he didn’t even know exactly what was going on with White.
It looks like there might finally be some sort of progress, as the Houston Rockets have sent Royce White to the D-League.
The Rockets have assigned forward Royce White to Houston’s single-affiliation NBA D-League partner the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

This move could mean two very different things. The first possibility is that the sides are working together to get White back on the team. The second possibility is that the Rockets are optioning him to the D-League as a sort of punishment. However, David Aldridge is reporting that this is a step in the right direction.
Royce White’s D League assignment part of “multi-week” plan to work him back into organization, per source. Practiced w/Rox this week.

Well, at least now Kevin McHale can say he knows what’s going on with the whole situation.
