Seahawks player Derrick Coleman has been fighting the odds since he was a toddler. He was diagnosed with a rare and incurable hearing impairment since he was just a baby leaving him essentially deaf. But that never stopped him from pursuing his dreams of playing football.
Coleman excelled in high school and ended up playing running back for UCLA. He went undrafted in the 2012 NFL draft but he kept fighting and eventually found himself a spot on the Seattle Seahawks as a special teams standout. Coleman wears a hearing aide in each ear and relies heavily on lip-reading to communicate.
