Chicago White Sox rookie Jose Abreu has made a mark in the league so far for his offense. However it was his defense on Saturday which was worthy of discussion. Check out his heads up play as he fielded a grounder from Cleveland Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall, and when the ball seemed stuck, he just threw his glove to Sox pitcher Scott Carroll (via MLB.com)
I was taught as a youngster that one could not throw a glove to make a play. Didn’t seem to be an issue here as far as the umpires are concerned. Unfortunately, the Pale Hose dropped the contest to the Erie Warriors, sliding to 14-17 and barely a half game out of last place.
