VIDEO: New York Yankees turn first triple play of 2014 70

For a pitcher, there is no better gift than a triple play.  Two on, no out, big inning pending.  Then it all goes away thanks to tags, throws, and gloves.  Watch as the New York Yankees clean up the 2nd inning for ace C.C. Sabathia by going around the horn, Yangervis Solarte, to Brian Roberts, to Scott Sizemore, who made a nice scoop in the dirt.  That’s 5-4-3 if you’re scoring at home (via MLB.com)

The play quelled a potential Tampa Bay rally, who were trailing the Yankees 4-0.  The Rays clogged the bases with a double (Longoria) and walk (Myers) before Sean Rodriguez hit a tailor made grounder.
