We all know how dangerous it to get hit by a pitch. The last person expected to get hit would be the umpire. Why? Well because one of two things are expected to happen. The batter will either put the ball in play or the ump should feel confident that the catcher, who is sitting right in front of him, will use his big catcher’s mitt to CATCH THE BALL! Well take a look at what happen to major league umpire Brian Knight during the Washington Nationals/Philadelphia Phillies game.
Come on Jose Lopez! 96-mph fastball to the face? Catch the DAMN BALL! That’s why we wear face guards and helmets folks! Umpire Brian Knight left the game and as they say he is day-to-day.
