WATCH: J.A. Happ hit in head by line drive

  • Stephen Kettner

Pitcher has never been the safest position on the field, from little league all the way up to the major leagues. Tonight proved that fact, being only 60 feet 6 inches away, Toronto Blue Jay’s pitcher J.A. Happ was nailed by a line drive. Tampa batter Desmond Jennings even covered his face almost immediately after the ball hit Happ’s head. Happ doesn’t really move much during this video and is carted off on a stretcher. There isn’t much a pitcher can do in this situation, they can only hope to get out of the way or get their glove up. Hopefully all is well with Happ.
