WATCH: One-armed MMA fighter Nick Newell moves to 10-0 with guillotine choke
To me, the video you are about to watch is one of the coolest things you’ll ever see. Nick Newell was born with a condition known as congenital amputation, according to his website. The condition is present in roughly one in every 2,000 babies born, and left Newell with only one arm, with the other being amputated at birth just a few inches below the elbow.
However, that never stopped Newell from pursuing athletics, playing basketball, soccer, and baseball as a kid. Newell found that he had a knack for wrestling in high school. This passion eventually led to an MMA career, and Newell has exploded onto the scene in the MMA world. Last night, sporting a 9-0 record, Newell faced Keon Caldwell at the World Series of Fighting 4 on the NBC Sports Network. The fight didn’t last past the first round, with Newell improving his record to a perfect 10-0 via a guillotine choke submission. Only one of Newell’s fights has lasted past the first round.
