WATCH: Russell Wilson throws “98 MPH” first pitch at Mariners game
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has become quite a hit in the city. Friday, he was invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Mariners took on the Yankees. Wilson played baseball at North Carolina State and he is a gifted athlete, so it’s no surprise he was able to bring the heat.
The big screen at Safeco Field said the pitch was clocked at 98 miles-per-hour, while the announcers said the pitch was around 75 miles-per-hour. It seems more realistic that the pitch was the latter of the two, and the big screen said 98 just to get the home crowd amped up. But hey, Wilson has a cannon, so I am not going to doubt that the pitch was really going 98 miles-per-hour. Check out the video below and decide for yourself.
