Yankees star to have season-ending surgery
Sorry New York Yankees fans, the star as the title suggests is not Alex Rodriguez. The star is Mark Teixeira and is yet another blow to the second place Yanks, who have struggled with injuries since Derek Jeter broke his ankle. Doctors are suggesting Mark Teixeira should undergo surgery to repair the sheath tendon in his right wrist that would effectively end his season.
Via USA Today:
Doctors have recommended that New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira undergo surgery to repair the sheath tendon in his right wrist, which would end his season and deal another injury blow to the second-place club.
Teixeira, 33, expects to have surgery sometime next week and would require six months to fully recover.
“It’s very tough,” Teixeira said at a press conference at Yankee Stadium, “especially in a season where the team could probably use me. … I really would have loved to be a part of this.”
Despite all of the injuries the Yankees have dealt with, they still have stuck around the top of the AL East. But good news Yanks fans, A-Rod is on the mend; assuming he doesn’t get suspended by baseball.
