In the second installment of our weekly “Terrible Tuesday” chapter, in which we visit some forgettable moments regarding New York sports history, I just HAD to recount this one. I wasn’t sure whether or not to put this in today’s piece, or save it for another time simply because it was more hilarious than terrible, but whatevs.
All the way back in December 2003, during a nationally televised Monday Night Football contest, former Jets quarterback and franchise legend Joe Namath was manning the sidelines, and had apparently thrown back a few too many Shirley Temple’s and shots of Old Grand Dad. When ESPN’s pretty-hot-for-an-older-woman Suzy Kolber pulled Jovial Joe aside for an interview to ask him about the Jets struggles. Namath made it apparent that he didn’t give a shit about the team “strugg-a-ling.”
All he wanted to do was make out with Suze.
And he told her, twice. Too bad Joe, she was there to learn, not make out with you! Check out this train wreck:
