There are plenty of good games on tap this weekend, so it was difficult deciding who to highlight for the College Game of the Week Cheerleader Preview. Until last week’s debacle against Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas’s battle with Alabama would have been the game of the week. Instead the Razorbacks find themselves out of the polls and without their starting QB. Ouch. I also thought about going with the Michigan State game, but I think we all know Notre Dame is going to lay an egg there.
USC versus Stanford was also on the list, but I ended up going with another SEC East tilt: Florida v. Tennessee. For one thing, it’s nice to see the Volunteers relevant in big time college football again. It’s been a bit of a rough patch in Rocky Top, but the Vols seems to be firing on all cylinders so far. This is also a big game for the Gators. They won their first conference game last week, but winning at Tennessee would be a big step up for a team that hasn’t looked completely rock solid yet this season.
There is also a damn good cheerleader battle brewing here, and I think it could come down to which squad has the better stamina in the 4th quarter. Who throws their girls the highest? Who can do more flips? Who shows more leg? Tennessee seems to have a plenty of leggy brunettes (like Chelsey and Emily) that could hold off the Gator charge. But when the Gator Girls like Aja, Paige and Tammy start Tebowing on the sidelines, there will be no hope for the Orange faithful.
