Back and forth we go, as the Chris Paul trade talks are heating back up once again with higher optimism than before. The New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers have renewed trade talks that would once again have Chris Paul coming to Los Angeles, but this time for the Clippers instead of the Lakers.
Earlier this week a trade that seemingly had all sides in agreement to ship Chris Paul out of New Orleans went awry. The league apparently wants Eric Bledsoe added into the trade. With the earlier acquisition of Chauncey Billups it appears now that Eric Bledsoe may be expendable. That is if the league doesn’t demand Blake Griffin to be included as well…just kidding!
Now the trade appears that it may come to fruition as early as Tuesday. The new deal now would be to send Eric Gordon,Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Bledsoe and Minnesota’s unprotected 2012 first-round draft pick to New Orleans in exchange for the all-star point guard Chris Paul.
Where things could get hairy is if Chris Paul decided to agree to his player option and leave after two years. Then the Clippers would be looking at losing all of their valuable trade assets if Paul weren’t to sign an extension to rent a player for two years.
If the trade does happen like all signs and indications are leading, the Clippers would appear to be a serious threat in the west. The expected lineup could be Chris Paul, Mo Williams, Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan. The bench would be loaded as well with Chauncey Billups, Jamario Moon, Randy Foye, and Ryan Gomes.
